Love is not just a fruit of the spirit. Love is who God is. So, whenever a believer or group of believers is showing love to one another or to anybody, God is there. Since God is no respecter of persons, He loves everyone and desires a loving relationship with everyone. This especially is true for those who have been villified by the church or society as a whole. Love is why God gave us a free will, because, love of any kind is only genuine when it is freely chosen.
God anoints relationships. I’m talking about monogamous relationships of all kinds. The genders of the couples matter not. The only requirement for God to fully bless a relationship is monogamy and both members have a personal relationship with God. God blesses other kinds of relationships too. Friends and family can receive God’s blessing when each member’s heart belongs to God.
Individually, believers are encourage to grow in love. Everyone grows up differently, but, ideally we accept the love of God and learn to love Him first. Then we learn to see ourselves as God see us and love ourselves in a healthy way. Then we are individually ready for an intimate relationship with someone else. Strife occurs when we get this out of order. But, this strife can be overcome when we get our priorities straight by loving God first, ourselves second and then others.
Ultimately, each believer has a purpose of learning to love like Jesus. Which is to say loving God, ourselves and others where we are in life.
