The job of supervising or taking care of something, such as an organization or property.
I found the above definition to be a bit generic, but, I kind of expected it from the search engine. The question I asked God is am I a good steward of my resources? My resources being my time, money and body. These are the three things God is most interested in.
When you talk about stewardship of resources you have to discuss priorities. So, what is my number one priority? It’s loving God. Does my stewardship of my time and money reflect this? Let’s just quote Joyce Meyer and say, “I’m not where I need to be, but, thank God I’m not where I used to be. I’m okay and I’m on my way.” When it comes to stewardship God wants to see progress. He does not expect us to do anything perfectly. How I spend my time and money is a private matter between me and God. We should definitely avoid judging each other on our stewardship and priorities.
My next priority is loving myself. Do I spend an appropriate amount of my resources on taking care of myself? Do I get enough rest? Do I get enough meaningful physical activity? Do I love others in a balanced way? Have I brought the Holy Spirit in on these decisions? Again, its a progress not perfection kind of thing that is between me and God and not something we should be judging each other over.
Remember, stewardship of your time, money and body is a reflection of your priorities and is between you and God. One more thing, don’t make a law out of any of it, let the Holy Spirit lead you in the direction you should go in these matters.
